This book is dedicated to Alan by the author (Wisey) in gratitude for his steadfast friendship-a friendship that created a bond which has lasted over 70 years. More importantly, the relationship recognizes and honors Alan's triumph over the circumstances that led to his having to make "The Decision."

No one should ever have to make a decision like the one Alan was forced to make. But for those of us who, unfortunately, do, this book is essential reading. It not only tells the story of what Alan's decision was but explains how and why he made it.

Alan was confronted with a choice: he could save himself from a life sentence in prison, keep his wealth (and he had plenty of it), and protect his family, or he could risk losing everything... Everything! All he had to do was become a Snitch. That's all!

If one reads the book to the last chapter, one will discover what Alan's final decision was, how he made it, and why. As of the writing of this article, Alan is at peace with himself, one with God, and lives quietly, helping others in Riverdale, The Bronx, NY.

Who among us would not long for the inner peace that Alan found? Yet, how many of us would be willing to sacrifice everything-our material possessions, our freedom, our family, and friends-to achieve it?
